The Story Behind The Art
For their captain's retirement, 23 firefighters gathered in their gear bay. Our artist transformed the composition: smoke morphs into their 2008 warehouse rescue operation, helmet reflections show younger versions of themselves, and the American flag draping the truck reveals subtle names of fallen comrades in its folds. The captain's weathered hands cradle his first helmet from 1987 in the foreground.
